Warner Brothers Studio Tour Review

This family of muggles travelled to London and decided we’d like to visit the studios where the Harry Potter films were made. It’s not a theme park, it’s a genuine interesting, thrilling, and exciting studio tour. We thought it was well worth it; here’s a flavour of how we got on.

Harry Potter Experience ReviewIf you travel to the Warner Brothers Studio Tour by public transport, please, please take the bus from the train station. It’s inexpensive enough (costs about €3 per person), and it’s mocked up to look like the night bus. If you’re not a Harry Potter fan, this is probably going to be the most boring thing you’ve ever read. Sorry! If you are a fan, then you’ll certainly be interested in this family visit review.

It’s a good way to start the visit, arriving to the studios by night bus. Arrive at least 20 mins in advance so you can print off your tickets for entry. On arriving at the studios you’ll be looking around wondering if you’re in the right place, don’t worry. Basically, the tour is located in 2 MASSIVE warehouses at the studios in Leavesden, but there are plenty of hints at the entry way to suggest that you’re going somewhere special.

I’m wary of including too much information on the actual tour because it would spoil a number of the surprises for true fans (like us). I had deliberately hadn’t read up too much on the studio tour online before visiting so as to preserve some of the magic. We brought the two small boys along. The elder boy had read all the books and seen all the films, the younger fella hadn’t seen all the films and hadn’t read the books, yet. The experience is probably best suited to those who are a little bit older, definitely beyond 8 and upwards. It’s extremely detailed, and I would love to visit again without a smallie dragging out of me. 😉

I’m going to pop all the best photos into a gallery at the bottom of this post so you can browse them at your leisure.

This was a truly magical and fantastic tour, I’d highly recommend it to other families travelling to London (within the age range above).

Bonus Notes:

  • No matter what the time of the year, remember to bring a cardigan/jumper as it can get a bit chilly in the high-ceilinged warehouses.
  • I’d probably pass on the Butterbeer if we were to go again, we found it too sweet.
  • The shop (you exit through the shop) is extremely expensive. If you’re bringing children and are on a budget, I recommend you visit Penneys/Primark before the trip to stock up on Harry Potter merchandise so nobody leaves feeling disappointed.
  • A family of 2 adults, 2 children can expect to pay about STG£107 for entry (approximately €140 at the time of writing).
  • Take your time! Don’t book the last time slot as you might feel a little hurried. Book in the middle of the day and browse your heart out.
  • Bring tissues; you might get something in your eye. *cough*
